How To: Create multiple profiles in Chrome

How To: Create multiple profiles in Chrome

What many users sadly do not know is that you can easily have multiple user profiles in Chrome. That means that you can easily share your computer with anyone without worrying about them accidentally making changes that you do not want them to make. Keep in mind that this is obviously not a way to secure your information.

To add a user profile, you will need to go to Chrome’s settings first. You can access them from the Customize and control Google Chrome menu found in the right top corner of the browser. Once you are in the settings menu you will notice a tab that says “Users”. Click on the “Add new user…” option to add a new account to your browser. Note that you will have multiple options here. You can choose a profile picture and a name for the account as well as a custom desktop shortcut that will automatically open Chrome connected to that account. The shortcut will have the name of the user and a thumbnail of the picture so that you can easily distinguish between the different profiles.

Of course, that is not the only way to change profiles. Once you have added more than one user you will notice a new icon in the top left corner of the browser. That icon is your profile’s picture and clicking on it will show you all of the other profiles that you have stored in your browser. You can easily change between them by clicking on them and you can even add a new user from that menu. As a final note, you should know that you can import bookmarks and sync your settings for each profile individually so whatever you do on one profile will not affect your other ones.
