Google Location History feature and how to work with it

Google Location History feature and how to work with it

It is no secret that Google Maps is a tremendous feature that a lot of us use in our everyday lives. The immense popularity of the feature combined with the sheer functionality is something that helps millions of people every day. What you may not know, however, is that Google can track your location history and display special map for you to view. While some of you will like this feature, others may be concerned about their privacy and want to prevent Google from doing that. Here is how you can enable or disable the feature and what you can do with it.
LocationHistory1
First of all, you need to go here https://maps.google.com/locationhistory/b/0/. If you have enabled the feature before you will be able to see a line map of your activity over the recent months. You can choose different dates in the calendar on the left side of the window. If you click on the gear icon at the top right corner, you will be taken to this page https://maps.google.com/locationhistory/b/0/settings. There you can enable or disable the feature any time you want.
LocationHistory2
However, disabling the feature will not delete your history. That will stay stored in Google’s database and you can view it even after you have disabled the Location History. To delete it you will need to go to the first page listed here. There you will able to delete specific time periods or all of your history. Keep in mind that the process is irreversible so think about it for a while before doing something you might regret. As a last note, the feature can be turned on and off in specific devices, meaning that you can enable it in your tablet and disable it in your smartphone for example. How to do that differs from device to device but it can be usually found in the Location settings.
