2 Easy ways to enable the Details pane in Windows 10

Having the Details pane in Windows 10’s File Explorer lets you view properties of your files and folders. While it’s not displayed by default, it’s easy to enable the Details pane in Windows 10.
While there are other ways to do it, we’ll talk about the two most convenient solutions.

How to enable the Details pane in Windows 10

When enabled, the Details pane is displayed to the right of your listed files and folders showing file and folder-related information such as file size, last modification date, author and so on.

Enable the Details pane via File Explorer

Since the Details pane is hidden by default, here’s how you can reveal it.
Firstly, you can enable the Details pane in Windows 10 by opening File Explorer and then pressing the Alt + Shift + P keyboard shortcut. As soon as you do it, the Details pane should be visible and it should look something like in the image below:

With the Details pane enabled, you can select one or multiple files to view their information.
It’s also possible to enable the Details pane from File Explorer’s ribbon interface.

In File Explorer go to the File tab in the ribbon interface and click on the “Details pane” option to enable it.

Enable the Details pane via the Registry

It’s also possible to show the Details pane with a simple registry tweak.
Copy and paste the text below into a .TXT file:

Save the file as a .REG file and close it. Double-click on the file to apply the Registry tweak. That’s it!
If you ever want to undo this tweak, here’s the one you can use for this purpose. Just like before, copy and paste the text below in a .TXT file and save it as a .REG file.
