How To Disable the games feature in Windows7
The Games in Windows offer a quick distraction and I know for
a fact that a lot of people are addicted to Solitaire. If you are one
of the people that has no use for those games though, you might want to
disable it. It is actually one of the first things I do when I get on a
new Windows installation as I find the feature annoying and useless.
For this guide we will be going to the Windows Features. There are multiple ways to get there but the easiest is to simply type windows features in your Start menu search box and press Enter. You will find a lot of different features here but we just want the “Games” item for now. Uncheck the box, click on OK and wait for a while until the feature is disabled. You should see a progress bar that will let you know when the process is done.
Now, the item might still show up in your Start menu but you can also disable that. Right click on your Start orb and select Properties. You should be in the Start menu tab so just click on the “Customize” button. Scroll down the list until you find the Games menu and choose the option that says “Don’t display this item”. Click on OK and close any remaining open windows. This change also takes effect immediately so just open your Start menu to check it out. If for whatever reason something went wrong, just log off and then on again to apply the new settings.
