How To: Change the download location in your browser

Although downloading stuff from your browser is very normal, a lot of people are either oblivious as to the download location or how to change it. This guide will show you how to find and change the default download location in your browser.
1. Chrome
Download Location1
Click on the options menu in the top right corner. Scroll down and click on the Settings option. This will open a new page. In the bottom of the page you will see an option saying “Show advanced settings”. Click on that and more options will appear. Scroll down again until you find the Downloads menu. Here you can see your default download location and the button to change it. You can even set the browser to ask you about the download location every time.
2. Firefox
Download Location2
Click on the Tools menu and choose Options. Navigate to the General tab and in the bottom of the window you will see the Downloads menu. You can click on Browse in order to change the location.
3. Internet Explorer
Download Location3
In newer versions of Internet Explorer you can easily change the Downloads path by going to the “View Downloads” menu from the Options menu and then clicking on the Options in the bottom left corner of the window. Older versions are a lot trickier. You either have to change it every time you want a file to be downloaded or visit the Registry Editor. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer and change the “download directory” value to the path you want.
