How To Automatically Log in after Restarting Windows 10
After most updates, Windows 10 will need to restart in order
to finalize the process. Normally, you would need to log back into your
user account after a reboot but recent Windows 10 builds allow us to
eliminate this step.
Starting with Fall Creators Update version 1709, we can automatically sign in after restarting Windows 10. This is possible using a new option available in the Settings app.
According to Microsoft, this option allows you to automatically use
your sign in information after a restart or update. Before, the advanced
Windows Update feature would automatically sign us in after a restart
required by an update but now it has been expanded to work for regular
shutdowns and reboots.
Navigate to Settings -> Accounts -> Sign-in options.
Scroll down in the right pane until you get to the Privacy section. There, enable the option called “Use my sign-in info to automatically finish setting up my device after an update or restart”.
From then on, you will automatically sign in after restarting Windows 10.
It’s also worth mentioning that starting with Fall Creators Update, if you have any open apps when you shutdown or restart your PC, Windows 10 will automatically open them the next time it boots. While it can certainly be useful, there’s currently no way to prevent this behavior other than by manually closing the open apps before you reboot or shutdown your computer.
What do you think about this new feature? Let us know in the comments section!
