Start by opening the folder containing the files and/or folders you want to hide in File Explorer and select them.

Then, open the View tab and click on the option called “Hide selected items”.

That’s it! The selected files won’t be visible anymore.
Obviously, you might want to show the hidden files at some point. To do this, open the View tab and check the box next to “Hidden items”.

The hidden files will be displayed again but they will be faded because they still have the hidden attribute.
If you want to unhide them, select the hidden files and in the View tab click the “Hide selected items” button again. This will return the files back to their normal, visible state.
As you can see, making hidden files visible and unhiding them is not the same. When you make the hidden files visible, they still have the hidden attribute and as a result they will appear faded.
Luckily, it’s easy to hide and unhide files in Windows 10, so whenever you need to make some data private this is one of the simplest options.
